8.7
out of 10

The Canon imageCLASS MF445dw sits in the sweet spot of the monochrome laser market — it's fast, has a full complement of AIO features including fax, and runs quietly enough for shared office spaces. Canon's reliability reputation is well-earned at this tier.

Design & Build

The MF445dw is a solid, well-built machine with a 50-sheet ADF and a 550-sheet main tray. The 5-line LCD is functional but basic compared to competitors with colour touchscreens at similar prices.

Print Quality

At 40 ppm it's among the fastest in its class, and print quality holds up well at speed. Text output is crisp and consistent. The enhanced 1200 dpi mode adds definition for fine text and line art.

Scanning

The flatbed scanner handles up to legal-size documents. The ADF is duplex-capable, scanning both sides of a page in one pass — a genuine time-saver for multi-page document digitisation.

Running Costs

The standard Canon 057 toner yields 3,100 pages; the 057H high-yield version yields 10,000 pages at a very competitive $0.016 cost-per-page — lower than most competing monochrome laser AIOs at this tier.

Connectivity

Wi-Fi and Ethernet are both present. Canon PRINT Business app handles mobile printing cleanly. Apple AirPrint and Mopria support cover most mobile use cases out of the box.
